Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
