Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Fans can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
